Thanks to Helen Cornish for the great story and pictures:
This little bit of history may only be special to me …..but here goes. When I started school at the Catholic school way back in 1959 there was a huge acorn tree outside the convent. I used to fill my tunic pockets with acorns & take them home. Obviously when Mum did the washing she emptied my pockets & threw the acorns into the garden outside the laundry. Anyway a couple of the acorns grew & Dad (Frederick McInerney) dug them out & we took one up to our property at Little River & the photos will tell the story 😃 In the 1968 drought Dad & I used to cart water for the cattle but Dad always made sure there was some water left for my acorn tree. I use the photo with me in it as my cover photo & I love this tree – so majestic!! The property is now owned by my sister but I still call it my acorn tree
